The house was designed to maximize the 360 degree view of the location of a hill, just north of San Diego. Open public areas in the house are four levels of cascading roof with skylights to change the butterfly lighting and ventilation. The maximum draw stacked bar room open personal warmth, even though nearly 10,000 square feet of space. Includes cantilever which is supported by steel beams.
Houses are structurally designed for energy efficiency. The slope of the roof back on rising warm air flowing through the skylight to help cool sea breeze from the border. In winter, the windows on the south side provides a variety of passive solar heating. On cloudy days, the boiler hydronic floor heating is driven by the German heat efficiently from the bottom up.
